I spent some much needed quality time with my favorite ladies last night. AKA, I watched reruns of Sex and the City recorded on my DVR. No matter how many times I see the show, I find it endlessly exciting. The energy of the city, Carrie's outfits, the different apartments. It just puts me in a better mood.
And then I thought about Carrie and Big's apartment in that movie which we do not name.
Designing a living space fit for a man and woman is a challenge. Im still not sure any man would tolerate the pink rug, but I think the velvet, clean lined sofa, grey walls, abstract art, and the rest of the space has it just right. Thoughts? How do you blend the styles?
Thanks for stopping in today, everyone. lovelovelove.

I always watch re-runs of SATC, too. All the time. I quote it constantly but no one ever realizes what I'm talking about. :(
ReplyDeleteI never saw the 2nd movie. I don't want it to taint my true love.
This is a great post topic and a classic design delimma- fusing 2 different design tastes. As a lover of all things feminine and girly, it will be hard to incorporate a man in to the mix one day! I love this room and think it is the perfect balance for a man and woman. Great job!
ReplyDeleteOoh this apartment would definitely work for both but I imagine it's hard...never having lived with a boy, I haven't had to worry about it. But hopefully, one day I do have to worry about it haha. Btw, I gave you an award on my blog bc I love yours so much!
ReplyDeleteThis is something I struggle with daily! While I, admittedly, like more "masculine" things, I am a fan of girly decor-- and my boyfriend is not! I think it's all about compromise.
ReplyDeleteEvery few years my girlfriends and I spend a weekend vegged out watching reruns. I loved Carrie and Bigs apt. minus the pink rug. That sofa! I love a room that's balanced with masculine and feminine, I think it helps accentuate both, when they can play off each other.
ReplyDeleteSuch a struggle! My boyfriend and I live together and I've paired down my girly items while he has had to retire a few 'beer' and 'sports' posters! I love how you can tell which chair is Carrie's - I like to keep things clean and classic - graysand whites, blues & greens (and of course a little pink when he lets me get away with it!).
