{ TGIF }

This week has flown by, but that doesn't mean I'm not extremely thankful for Friday.
Between classes, work, homework, and a benefit that I'm currently organizing (which I'll be posting about soon!) I'm officially tired and ready for some relaxation and breakfast in bed. Treasure gets in town tonight, so we'll be hangin' low this evening and joining in on the Halloween festivities tomorrow.

I'll be honest, I'm not really a Halloween fan. It's partially because I love Thanksgiving and Christmas so much that I just WANNA GET THERE ALREADY. I'm not one of those people that goes all out with their costumes, but I do love watching the little kids get all gussied up.

 What about y'all? Halloween?

Hope you guys have a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by. lovelovelove.

{ One of those weeks...}

Monday did not play nice. After waking up feeling sick and tired, and a major flub in one of my classes, I finally came home from the library around 8pm ready to take a shower and wash off the bad karma of the day.

But then my shower door broke. And while I was standing inside the shower to fix it (which did not work) I accidently hit the faucet knob and was soaked with freezing cold water from head to toe while fully clothed and wearing shoes.

I went back to my homework and finally laid down to hit the hay around 1:15 but could.not.fall.asleep which was confusing as ever because I was exhausted. I finally got to sleep around 3 and woke up 3 and a half hours later to get ready for the day. Lovely.

I have a quick break before a meeting about a group project (I'm currently working on 3. OY) and then it's off to work I go. Since my procrastinate now and panic later tactic is giving me gray hair, I'm going to switch things up. From now on I'll  stay on campus in the library or Starbucks after work for three hours to do homework/tend to other obligations. I find that if I go home I'm too easily distracted and getting anything finished takes twice as long. I'm hoping this new method of working will keep me ahead of the game while still allowing for some relaxation in the evenings. Because sometimes a girl needs a glass of wine and free time to browse the blogosphere.

What about you guys? How do you stay productive?

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week. Thank you very much for stopping by.

{ Love Note: Terrain for Fall }

I love that you can roll this out for an impromptu picnic or carry it with you on a plane to bundle up with ease.

Beautiful packaging for open kitchen shelves

I'd love to store some bright green pears and apples in here to add some style to a plain jane kitchen.

I've loved Terrain for quite some time now, but especially during Fall. The entire store allows an array of options to completely cozify your home. Just browsing the site urges me to curl up with a cup of hot cider and bake some pumpkin speeds. Heavenly.

It's finally the weekend! I was starting to doubt it would ever get here, yet I'm not sure I'm ready for it because I feel like I've got so much to do. Being productive at night after a long day of work and classes feels near impossible lately. I can't wait for the days that no longer include homework.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

{ Perfect Evening }

Ideal Weeknight

Don't mind if I do! This looks like the perfect way to spend a night (or a rainy, lazy day) alone.
I've been dying to read Lunch in Paris for months. Has anyone read it?

The rainy weather here has me feeling sleepy and lazy. I love the rain if I get to stay cozy indoors. Unfortunately, there is still much to be done before the weekend so I better stop dreamin' and start movin'.  I've been feeling pretty stressed lately, and I think a cuppa tea and a new book would do me lots of good at some point in the near future.

As per usual, I must head off to class and work. Boo. I am getting all kinds of antsy to graduate and move on to a new chapter. Oh, Caitlin. Slow your roll.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. Thank you very much for stopping by.

{ A Reverie...}

Just daydreaming about what it would be like to be one of those lucky ducks who gets to spend Fall in New York City. I haven't seen this magical place in way too long.

My reality is that I must now go make breakfast and get dressed for my long day of classes. Le sigh.
Eye on the prize. Eye on the prize.

Hope you all are having a great week. Thanks so much for stopping by.

His & Hers Living Room

Feminine/Masculine Living room

I was playing around on Polyvore and ended up creating a mood board for a feminine and masculine inspired living room. Every time I go furniture browsing with Trevor it becomes clear to me what a divide there is between men and women when it comes to decorating. Even if you both have good taste there is a lot to compromise on! I love that the modern, vintage, leather chair offsets the feminine sequin pillows. This particular chair is obviously way out of most people's budget, but any leather chair with masculine lines would do the trick.  I wouldn't mind living here one bit. No sirry bob.

Is it just me or does West Elm have the best throw pillows ever, lately? I love.

Well, I'm off to get this day started. Thank you all very much for stopping by.

{ Life Lately }

1. Celebrated Kates 21st birthday this weekend! It ended up being too dark to take pictures with my Iphone (which is the only camera I had) but I did get to snap this picture of the pre-party at my place :). We toasted with champagne, ate red velvet cupcakes, and indulged in girl talk before the big night out.

2. Spent Sunday with my new fresh flowers, a cup of coffee and re-reading some old books and magazines.  (along with the not as fun stuff like homework)

3. I've been daydreaming a lot about Prague lately. I've read so many things that talk about how magical it is. Some say even more so than Paris. Plus, I'm almost entirely Czechoslovakian, so that means I must go :). Twould be a wonderful study abroad option. {source for photo}

I'm feeling  a little under the weather tonight. I didn't get much sleep last night and I'm a little worried I've caught something going around. Better get some OJ and some vitamins STAT.

Thank you all for stopping by today! I hope you all had a wonderful day. lovelovelove.

{ Celebrate }

This weekend is my girl Kate's 21st birthday! I'll be spending the weekend celebrating, drinking cocktails, dancing, and trying to keep my granny self awake past 11pm. There are lots of festivities ahead, so I'll be sure to snap some pictures. It should be a wonderful weekend :).  For now, I'm going to go grab a pumpkin spice latte and get this day started off right!

Hope you all have an amazing weekend. Enjoy it!

And also, thank you very much for stopping by.

{ Comfy cozy }

I woke up today reaching for anything comfy and cozy that I could curl up in. I think my brain is going too many directions lately because I just can't seem to get rested and energized this week. I believe it's getting to be the time to break out the Vitamin D and amp up my workouts again to try to perk myself up. Also, I woke up this morning and realized I was out of coffee. Isn't that a horrible way to wake up? I know I can stop and pick up a coffee on the way to class, but I'm the kind of gal who needs caffeine as soon as my toesies hit the flosies.

I have to go get ready for class, but we all know if I had it my way I would be getting dressed in an oversized cable knit sweater, grabbing a pumpkin spice latte and heading to browse a flea market :). Sigh. What I would give.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, thank you all very much for stopping by.

P.S. I'm going to have to start scheduling blog posts for the morning so that I have it in me to blog about something other than cozy beds and coffee. I'm on it ;).

{ Today I'm happy }

Yesterday was a terrible, no good, very bad day in my book. It was just one of those days that everything went utterly haywire. But I'm keeping my spirits up for the day. Especially because I've got these things making me happy:

1. Memories of a great weekend spent with Treasure 2. Crunchy leaves under my boots 3. Coffee and a vanilla almond biscotti 4. Fresh Tulips from Whole Foods

I hope you guys had a better start to your week than I did, but if you didn't, there are still 4 more days in the work week to make up for it :).

I'm off to make some breakfast and get dressed for class and work. Have a wonderful day, everyone. Thank you very much for stopping by.

{ Monday Morning }

Morning, darlings.

How's everyone doing? I, for one, am not ready for another crazy week. There is much to be done but my cozy couch and DVR full of Friends reruns calls to me. Sadly, I have to ignore them.

On the upside, I'm starting this day of with some Hazelenut coffee and a healthy breakfast. Then, it's off to work I go. I hope you all have a wonderful day, I'll see you back here later!

{ Life Lately }

Last weekend I purchased this Free People Coat for 50 buckaroos. I love.

This has been quite the busy week. I am so very ready for the weekend. How 'bout y'all?
Treasure is coming town, too, which always makes it all the more lovely :).

Hope you guys enjoy your evening. Thank you very much for stopping by. I'll see you tomorrow!

{ a simple pleasure... }

Coming home from a long day and seeing your bed made and ready for you to dive into.

{ Early Morning }

Morning dears, I'm starting my day off extra early and heading to the library before work and class to get a few things done. I would love to cuddle up back in bed and sleep for a couple more hours, but homework doesn't wait for anyone, now does it?

What's everyone else's plan for the day? What time do you guys wake up?

Hope you all have a wonderful day :)

{ Why I Blog }

Blogging is kind of a weird thing.
 Even the word. Blawwwg. It's not the most eloquent sounding word, now is it?

Some people think blogging is for dweebs. And some people are right about that. I'm a total dweeb and maybe that's why I enjoy blogging so much. But lately, as I've been contemplating my intentions for my career, and generally, what I want my life as a "grown up" to be, I also started thinking about my dear little blog. Why do I do this? Why does it make me happy? What's the point? (Particularly on days when I feel like I'm talking to myself.)

(ideal movie collection)

I believe I've mentioned before how I only watch movies that make me happy unless I'm being forced against my will. I'm far too emotional already to subject myself to movies full of blood, sweat and tears. I want to watch something dreamy, inspiring, light. Some people think that makes me ignorant, and that's fine, but I disagree. I am fully aware that life is not one big romantic comedy, but why can't I indulge in that for a couple of hours to offset all of the scary challenges and battles that life presents on a daily basis?

I don't talk about it too terribly much on here these days, but I've had some very non uplifting things happening in my life for the past couple of years. I'm sure we all could name a few things that have caused us to struggle. I started blogging more regularly when things started getting really hard, and I had run out of romantic comedies to watch. Blogging has become a way to create my own space of happiness. A happiness that lives somewhere that no one else can tamper with it.

I am well aware that there is much more to life than a good cup of coffee or a beautifully styled room, or the current town that I'm dying to visit. But basking in the beautiful, simple things that make me excited about all of the lovely, inspiring things life has to offer is how I choose to get by. Dwelling in those things, and taking time each day to reflect upon them reminds me to offer some light to each day.  Even the ones that initially feel the darkest.

So I know that right now it may just be a fluffy, silly dream to envision myself sitting in a cafe in Paris with a view of the Eiffel Tower, but one day when I'm really sitting there, I'm going to remember when I posted all of those pictures and daydreams on my blog. And in that moment, I'll be reminded that each and every reverie can become a reality, so you should never stop dreaming. After all, what would you do in your spare time? :).

Your turn. Why do you blog? Make a post of it, ladies (or gents...if you happen to be out there).

Thank you very much for stopping by.

{Casa de Caitlin: an update}

Hey darlings.
How is everyone's week going so far?
My Monday felt long and tiring. No matter how much coffee I drank, I just couldn't wake up.
Hopefully tonight I'll get to bed at a decent hour, because tomorrow will be another doozy.

I know I've been promising updated apartment pictures, so I'm here to deliver. Sadly, the photos aren't great quality because my camera and I have not been getting along. But at least they'll give you a general idea of what's new. All of the major stuff (like chairs for the living room, barstools for the kitchen/bar area, maybe a dresser for the bedroom) is still in the works, but I have picked up some smaller things in the meantime.

Oh, and by the way, you'll see my little french bistro chair from The Guild Shop in a few different positions. She's being a pal and standing in until I get more furniture. Currently though, I'm enjoying her as a little nightstand in my bedroom :).

A little reminder of the Before.

And here's how it's looking at the moment. I still plan to add more art and mirrors to the wall, and some living room chairs. I want to bring some printed fabrics in somehow too to mix it up a little bit.  I'll keep ya posted ;).

Speaking of art, here's a closer look at the new print thats in the corner there:

Trevor treated me to this print when we made a little stop at Ikea a few weeks ago. I adore it.

I also added a few new throw pillows to the mix that I had laying around. I still need to get a few new coffee table books and accessories. Also, pardon the lack of fresh flowers in these photos. There were slim pickins at the grocery store last week.

Also, here's a quick snapshot of the entry table as it looks right now:

I can't wait to gussy this baby up at Christmas time :)

Now let's head to the kitchen:

I added some storage/counterspace to the kitchen with a new shelf and table. The shelf was from the IKEA As-Is section for about 4 dollars, and the brackets were about 7 dollars. I think. But don't take my word for it. It's past 8pm and I have the energy of an 80 year old woman right now. Moving on. The table. Does it look familiar? You may remember my dining table from before?
(sorry for poor quality picture. i believe this was taken with my iphone in dim light)

Anywho,  I found a way to divide the leaves into two separate tables, because I lovelovelove this piece and really wanted to keep it for after graduation even though it was simply too darn big for my living room. So it's divided in two at the moment, but should be pretty simple to put back together as one when the time comes. The other half is serving as my desk:

*side note: see that little wooden box with the collage inside? that's a jewelry box Trevor Treasure made me for our first anniversary. One of the hinges is loose so it's not entirely functional at the moment but it's one of my favorite things I own. I love seeing it on my desk :).*

Now that my desk is wood, I'd like to get another desk chair. I'm considering a modern white, molded chair with metal legs to add a little contrast to the antique table:

We shall see!

But back to the kitchen. Here's the side facing the little extra nook:

It's pretty boring over here, but it's clean. I have since changed that kitchen towel which spruced things up a little bit. But I do actually really love that rug. I got it at Ikea for about 4 smacks, I believe.

Now, follow me to the bedroom...

(I apologize for the blurriness. Again, my camera and I were disagreeing)

This room still has a ways to go, but I actually really love it. It feels so cozy and I'm really enjoying sitting in bed at night with a book and tea and letting the stress of the day fade away. The end of the bed throw is from a local thrift store and cost a little less than $4. I think it's precious.

Well, lovelies, that's all I've got for you today. I'm very ready to relax with Sex and the City, a cozy blanket and a cuppa tea. I hope you all do something equally relaxing this evening. See you all tomorrow. Thanks so much for checking in today :).
