I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do with my life lately. These past couple of tumultuous weeks have really opened up my eyes to what's important and what I want to do with my time.
I was reviewing my 25 before 25 list today, and I decided that the one I'm going to focus on right now is volunteering and traveling. I think I know where I want to volunteer and travel to,
so I'll be sure to write about that once I have more details.
And now I leave you with a couple of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite books
Eat. Pray. Love.
"[My guru] says that people universally tend to think that happiness is a stroke of luck, something that will maybe descend upon you like fine weather if you are fortunate enough. But that's not how happiness works. Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it..."
"Stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone ought to be."
— Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love)
I am ridiculously excited for the movie to come out Friday.
Hope you all see it and read the book!
I found it incredibly inspiring and hopeful.

I'm so in love with that book (clearly, you can tell by my blog name haha). My friend's sister recommended it to me when I started college, and now after reading three times I finally bought the audio books. I listen to Liz Gilbert on my long drives during my times of adversity. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it too! It's so affirming, I don't blame you for reading/listening to it as much as you can :). I read that travel to Italy, India and Bali is BOOMING ever since it came out! Im not surprised. Ive entered about every Eat Pray Love sweepstake I could find!
ReplyDeleteOh I love these quotes! I have yet to read the book but I hope to get around to it soon! I can't wait to see the movie either!!
ReplyDeleteDid you enter the Friends one? Cause I enter that one every night when Friends comes on. I want to go to India or Indonesia cause I've already been to Italy (AMAZING), so I chose Indonesia. If I don't win, I'm still going to go over the winter off my own dime haha :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of that one! I'll have to look it up. I totally agree, even if I don't get the sweepstakes (haha) Im planning a trip for next summer. Wish it could be sooner but unfortunately the fund-age just won't come about soon enough! haha :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! planning a trip to Europe for next May!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteahh you're kidding! I'm planning one for next June hopefully. I still have to work out logistics but that's my hope! :)
