{Spring has almost sprung.}

 Isn't this silverware caddy darling? It's from Etsy. Check it out here.

I am so plum tired,
and today is not a day to be lazy!
I woke up at 8:30 (which felt like 7:30) to try to get an early start on all of the things that must be done. My final paper is coming along slowly but surely. Cross fingers that my self discipline doesn't let me down because I don't want to be scrambling around tomorrow
trying to do things at the last minute.
That would be all too typical.

Hope you're all having a great Monday <3

{Today}

via

I had my first "real" therapy session today,
and I must say, I am so relieved.
I loveloveloved my therapist and I feel really confident that this process is going to help me.
I'll definitely be blogging a little bit about it because
I think most of it is stuff that anybody can relate to.

I worked out immediately after my appointment,
and felt so good that I took such good care of myself today.
It really lifted my spirits.

Tonight, I looked at my To Do list before Spring Break,
and I admit, it caused me to stress a bit.
I also tried to make my budget for next quarter,
so I looked online at my Spring Quarter bill and it's not what it should be,
which means I have to go to the financial aid department tomorrow and figure that out.
 I could feel a knot in my stomach forming as I worried about what the problem could be and hating the fact that it's too late to call the office to talk to someone about it.
It's moments like that when I get irrationally angry that I'm stressing and spending so much money while feeling like I'm learning so little.

So naturally, I took a deep breath, poured a glass of wine, and turned on some Sex and the City.
I'm sure that the incorrect bill can easily be explained and fixed,
and there is nothing I can do about it until tomorrow.
As for my to-do list, it will get done.
I'll be in Texas for Spring Break before I know it,
and then Spring will be here and I'll have new classes that I hope I can make myself proud in.

Almost the weekend.

{Fairytale}

Don't these images make you feel like you're in a fairytale?
I would love to wake up and make breakfast in that kitchen.
So darling.

Today is a slow day but I have much to get done for Finals week.
I can't wait for Spring Break.
Just a litttle longer, now.

Hope you're all having a good week.
Catch ya on the flip side.

{Things changed and so have I}

Finding and keeping balance in my life is probably the biggest thing I struggle with. I had a counseling session last week and though it was just an initial interview sort of thing, the therapist said something that I found to be incredibly relevant.

He said that balance in life works the same way that a table's does. The legs of a table provide stability, the same way that in life you have the things that keep you stable and offer you security. He was asking me what mine were, and I told him what I thought a couple of them would be, but two of them were missing. Which would explain my problem with balance. When you don't have the other legs to lean on, you put all of your weight on the legs you do have, but soon, all of that pressure will cause them to break. In other words, don't put all your eggs in one basket, so to speak.

Love and life are so often lopsided. But I do keep trying to remind myself that there is more to me than one person, one relationship, or one attribute of my life. I've let the fact that I'm not acting right now make me feel worthless, and I just need to buck up and get over that. We're all three dimensional people and we have many things to offer.

So here's this, for anyone who can relate.

{A peek at my bedside table}

There is nothing worse than lounging comfortably in bed,
only to realize something you need is not within arms distance.
(okay obviously that's an exaggeration but you get the picture.)
That is when nightstand storage comes in handy.
However, my bedside table LACKs storage.
(it's the Ikea LACK side table. get it? ha ha ha)

I was on a super tight budget for my room (as are most college students) so obviously considering this $7.00 option made a lot of sense.
I briefly thought about craigslisting one, but after purchasing it, and getting the items necessary to refinish it, I definitely would have paid more than $7.00.

I can't even eat at Chipotle for that cheap.

So I went with the least expensive option.
I like it because it's open at the bottom,
so it takes up less visual space than a bulky nightstand would have,
and that makes a big difference in this little room.

But I digress. Storage.
I didn't want a bunch of my ugly bedside table items to be strewn about,
because that's just not very aesthetically pleasing is it?
So I bought this little guy:

I have a serious love for galvenized steel.
I can't explain why but I adore it.
This little baby only cost a $1.60 and it's perfect for holding the essentials.
I keep my remote, my phone charger, advil, chapstick, and a pair of glasses
tucked away in here every night.

Take a peek:

Sorry for the terrible quality. It was taken with my crappy camera phone.
I'm realllyy thinking about investing in a good camera in the next month or so.
Cross your fingers I can find a good deal!

Anways, not a bad solution for $1.60!
I'm not sure if I'll stick with this nightstand situation for next year when I move apartments
(mostly just because I get bored easily and I like to change things all the time)
but for now it's working swimmingly.

Also, just in case you're wondering...

I love them both.
- The lamp is courtesy of HomeGoods which I believe cost $30.00
-The mirror leaning against the wall was a thrift store find.
I believe it was .99 cents and I spray painted it with Rustoleum Metallic Silver.
-The flower vase is from TJ Maxx and I think it was around 5 or 6 bucks.

Well then, I'm off to play Chef!
I'm making Trevor dinner tonight
(I haven't seen him in a week and he lives blocks away.
That's what the end of winter quarter will do for ya.)
I want to start preparing early in case I have any mishaps.
Which is likely...

Happy Friday!

{Simple pleasures.}

1. Waking up to a sunny day.
2. A particularly good cup of coffee.
3. Clean sheets.
4. Driving with a great song playing on the radio.
5. A spritz of your favorite perfume.
6. Checking things off of your to-do list.
7. Great hair days.
8. New magazines.
9. Getting packages in the mail.
10. Fun thrift store finds.

There are so many things I'm excited about for Spring.
There are some things that I've been meaning to get around to (like redoing my vanity, buying/refinishing a new stool, getting new lampshades for my thrift store lamps) and I think Spring time will be just the boost I need to get all of these things done. It can be hard to make yourself get busy doing things (even things you enjoy) in Winter, so I'm optimistic about what Spring will bring.
I'll be taking a packed schedule, so I know it won't be a walk in the park,
but there's nothing better than a fresh start.
I always love the first week of a new quarter.

But first, I must get through these last two weeks of Winter.
I can't believe how time flies.

Have a great day!

{Quick Post: I want Moore.}

Mandy Moore was my favorite dressed celebrity at the Oscars on Sunday night.
I think she looks stunning in this Monique Lhuillier gown,
and I adore her earrings.

Just lovely.
